Flack: (Saving) On Expenses - Charlotte Street Blues, London W1

Reviewer Jamie Posner, senior account manager, The Lounge Group

- What is it good for?

A great blend of food, cocktails and live blues every night in a three-storey Georgian townhouse. The bourbon bar upstairs, with 85 varieties of the hard stuff and 'members bar' feel, is perfect for meetings or after-work drinks. Together with the mezzanine, it is available to hire for private functions. The basement bar has a speakeasy vibe - brilliant for late-night pool soundtracked by blues classics. The whole venue reminds me of a few bars I've been to in New York.

- Signature dish

The Charlotte Street burger, served with fries and coleslaw. Also try the house cocktail - the Charlotte Mint Julep.

- Who's the boss?

New Zealander Chris Maxwell of Live Acts Entertainment, a business he founded with a group of investors last year.

- Tips please

Tuesday is Swing Mon Amour, an extra stylish vintage party that's a celebration of the glamour of the 1920s-40s with a loyal following.

- What's the damage?

Main courses are just £8. Bar snacks from £2.50.

Charlotte Street Blues, 74 Charlotte Street W1T 4QH 020 7580 0113.
