United Artists Programming’s satellite and cable kids channel TCC has
called in Jackie Cooper PR to woo pre-school to teenage viewers.
The agency was appointed this week to handle the estimated pounds
100,000 fee account for TCC, formerly known as The Children’s Channel.
It plans to reach a wide age range of children through play groups,
schools and via media ranging from comics to teen magazines. Agency
managing director Robert Phillips said the campaign will also extend to
‘everyone who touches the world of kids’ including women’s magazines to
tap into ‘pester power’.
JCPR will promote a range of TCC’s programmes including cartoon hero
Earth Worm Jim and US import Sweet Valley High (above).
TCC head of marketing and publicity Ann Cook said the channel wanted a
full-time agency to handle ‘consumer-led promotions’. TCC hopes to boost
its ratings to compete with rivals Nickelodeon and The Disney Channel.
