Littlewoods’ billion pound turnover Home Shopping division is looking to
consolidate all its PR activity under one agency.
For the last four years the division, which covers seven catalogues,
including Littlewoods, John Moores and Janet Frazer, has split its PR
activity between The Public Relations Business, which handles home and
leisure, and Attenborough Associates, which covers fashion.
It saw presentations this week from both incumbent agencies and is also
planning to see Cartmell PR, which has previously worked for
Littlewoods’ sister-division Index.
PR and communications manager Sally Sykes said the division was
consolidating its business, believed to carry a budget of around pounds
300,000 a year, to cut costs and reflect a changing business focus.
She said: ‘We’ve been very pleased with the performance of both agencies
but it is always useful to take a fresh look at things. We initiated the
current split because we wanted to highlight home and leisure and as we
felt fashion specialists would be better placed to deal with that side.
Sykes, who leaves to become head of PR at Manchester Airport in April,
said the division was likely to select the sole agency next month.
She will be succeeded by Index’s media manager Tim Rogers who joins as
media manager. His role will not cover customer communications.
