In May, just as the IPR’s London building was struck by lightning,

Mealor was kicked by a horse on her parents’ farm. She suffered a broken

jaw, broken teeth and deep scratches. She also needed five stitches to

repair the injuries.

Now Mealor, who is getting married on 6 September, has discovered PRCA

assistant director and PR head Wendy Richmond is saying her vows three

days before her.

Mealor’s wedding day has been a long time in coming. A date was

originally set five years ago, and she went as far as buying her wedding

dress. But Mealor and her fiance, Enfield Council marketing and PR head

Ashley Gibbons, bought a house instead and have continued to put it off

until this year, when they decided to make a go of it before the end of

the millennium.

All was finally going to plan until three months ago when Mealor went to

reclaim her wedding dress from the shop where it had been kept in

storage and found it had been sold. Then her jaw was broken and Mealor

despaired of her face getting back to normal before September.

’It hasn’t been that easy but it’s all getting there now,’ says Mealor,

fingers tightly crossed.
