As if the PR industry didn’t have enough associations representing
it, a new one is in the offing.
John Rose of Jonathan Rose PR is trying to convene the Association of
Christians in Public Relations - ’a mutually helpful reference/meeting
point for all UK public relations practitioners who are committed
And so the ACPR takes its place among the ever-swelling ranks of TLAs
and FLAs (that’s three letter acronyms and four letter acronyms), such
as the IPR, PRCA, IABC, ICO, IPRA, CERP and LIPR (that’s ’Leos In Public
Relations’, to the uninitiated).
When questioned as to the viability of yet another PR association, Rose
says he is currently researching the level of ’desirability - not need’
for such an organisation. ’So far, interest has come from
well-established PR practitioners from all over the UK,’ he says.
Pressed about what the organisation will actually do, Rose could supply
no details. ’The prime objective is yet to be decided. It can’t be until
there’s a membership.’
But heathen PR practitioners need not fear. Rose is quick to assure me
his association will avoid proselytising - ’No-one could stand a
holier-than-thou PR practitioner,’ he says.
