Bazal, the UK’s largest independent producer of factual

entertainment, has hired Avalon Publicity to boost the profile of

Changing Rooms and two of its other programmes.

Avalon has just started work, providing unit publicity and consumer

media coverage for Ready Steady Cook!, Food and Drink and Changing

Rooms. All three form part of the BBC’s autumn schedule. Changing Rooms

attracted up to 11 million viewers in previous seasons.

Senior account manager Sarah Booth will oversee the account. She will

report to Charlie Gardner, corporate and PR head at GMG Endemol

Entertainment, which incorporates Bazal, another production company

Initial and Gem, the commercial arm.

There was no formal pitch for the account. Gardner said: ’We wanted an

agency with a proven track record, and which could provide us with

creativity and flair.’

Avalon has previously worked on the launches of FilmFour and ITV2, as

well as work for Universal Films and BBC Radio 5 Live.

GMG Endemol Entertainment appoints agencies on an ad hoc basis, working

on projects as the need arises. Avalon’s work will continue into the new

year.
