US software company Red Hat, the largest distributor of Linex, the
rival operating system to Microsoft Windows, has appointed Firefly to
manage an estimated pounds 250,000 fee campaign.
Firefly won a three-way pitch against Brodeur and Flapjack to handle Red
Hat’s UK PR and co-ordinate its European launch.
Firefly will oversee Red Hat’s launch in the UK, Germany and France, and
has appointed its Fireworks network partner Hillerwurst and Partners for
the German work.
Although Linex is available free over the internet, Red Hat has
repackaged the software for corporate clients and offers backup support
Firefly will work on both business and consumer campaigns to build brand
’We will target CEOs who don’t read the IT press and raise awareness of
the brand with those involved in decision making,’ said Firefly director
David Hargreaves, who heads a team of four on the account.
