DIARY: Newsnight’s Paxman inspires The Square in new office design

Full service agency The Square has come up with an interesting way

of highlighting its corporate identity.

The agency, whose clients include National Power, The Discovery Channel

and Novartis, is gearing up to move offices and wanted to begin a

square-themed collection of everyday items. The new office would then be

decorated with these ’commemorative’ objects.

The genius behind the idea was agency creative director Garry

Walton.

Watching BBC2’s Newsnight, he spotted feared anchorman Jeremy Paxman

sporting a tie with a pattern of richly-coloured squares, reminiscent of

the firm’s logo.

The company then wrote to Paxman, who graciously agreed to surrender the

tie for an undisclosed donation to Amnesty International. The Square PR

director Arlo Guthrie said the tie is now being sported for client

meetings.

’Of course, at the moment we can only field one member of staff for

client meetings at a time, but we do plan to purchase another tie at

some time over the course of next year.’
