Edgecombe joins from Freshwater Healthcare where she had been working with a range of healthcare and public sector clients.
She has also previously worked for the General Medical Council and Birmingham East and North Primary Care Trust.
‘This is a very exciting new challenge for me, especially in the current media climate with self regulation hitting the headlines on a daily basis,' said Edgecombe. ‘A large part of my role will be to continue the current work of the PMCPA to increase knowledge of and compliance with the ABPI Code of Practice within the pharmaceutical industry.'
Edgecombe will also seek to broaden the scope of the PMCPA's communications and engage with a wider group of stakeholders with an interest in the PMCPA and self regulation.
She replaces Niamh MacMahon who has taken the role of senior corporate communication manager at Novartis (PRWeek, 13 March 2009).
The appointment of our new head of communications is a sign of our continued commitment for greater awareness and transparency to ensure effective self regulation,' said PMCPA director Heather Simmonds.
