August. One Communications, the new mainstream PR brand into which the

group has transferred half its fee income and staff.

August. One, launched on 1 August, had been code-named Ignite (PR Week,

18 June), but the name could not be used as it was already registered on

the internet.

Managing director Khwaja will work alongside Katie Kemp, former Text 100

UK managing director, who was named president of the new outfit, which

will provide corporate and financial PR and customer relations, in

June.

Joining Khwaja and Kemp on the board are former Text 100 associate

directors Sarah Howe and Stuart Handley, directors of client services

and Europe, Middle East and Africa, respectively.

The majority of the agency’s 73 UK staff are former Text 100

employees.

However, the agency has recruited APCO UK founding member John Fraser

(PR Week, 16 July) to head public affairs, and several experienced

account directors, including Nicky Wheaton from Banner PR and Alex

Shaida from Propeller Marketing Communications.

August. One launches with 23 former Text 100 clients, including

Microsoft, and a fee income in excess of pounds 4 million.
