Chris Webb has been officially appointed as the Metropolitan
Police’s new head of news. Webb moves into the role after working for
one month as acting head of news, having previously headed the special
operations news desk. Webb will oversee the Met’s 40-strong team who man
a 24-hour press office, and will also play a strategic role, advising on
media relations strategy and reporting to public affairs director Dick
Fedorcio. Webb replaces Tessa Bartholomew, who moved into the force’s
personnel office on her return from maternity leave.
