Edward Funnell quit as director of comms at ATOC in March after an alleged clash with the chief executive.

Funnell left the body representing train companies unexpectedly after six and a half years’ service. It is believed that Funnell did not leave of his own choosing.

He replaces Nick Court, who is covering for DfT director of comms Jeremy Mooney. Mooney left in May to go on secondment to the Territorial Army comms team.

At ATOC, Funnell will be replaced by Local Government Association media director and PRWeek columnist Edward Welsh.
