Travel shop Hills Balfour will be responsible for coordinating marketing programs with tour operators and the media as part of the brief. It will also promote South Carolina directly to consumers to encourage them to visit the state.
South Carolina Tourism actively promotes South Carolina as a destination for leisure travel, including niche markets such as golf.
The Hills Balfour team will report into South Carolina Tourism international sales manager Dolly Chewning. The account will be headed up by account director Fred Bickmore.
International visitor spending contributed approximately $(US)672 million to the South Carolina's economy in 2007. The UK is the state's second-largest source of international visitation after Canada.
