Two thirds of PR budgets to be cut in public and not-for-profit sectors

A VMA Selection survey of PR professionals in the public and not-for-profit sectors has revealed that two thirds expect budgets to be cut during the next year.

But according to VMA Selection’s 2009 Trends in Public Sector and Not-for-Profit Communications, nearly four fifths of 1,000 respondents expressed job satisfaction, despite the expected cuts.

Only 18 per cent of respondents expected to see redundancies within their communications function, while a third predicted that their role would be largely unaffected by the current economic climate.

Recruitment firm VMA Selection conducted the survey earlier in the year to understand the likely impact of the downturn on communicators within the public and not-for-profit sectors.
