Thomas Cook has appointed its first director of government and external affairs. The role is to be filled by Andy Cooper, head of development at the Association of British Travel Agents and director-general at the Federation of Tour Operators.

Lloyds Banking Group is looking to hire a top lobbyist to fill the senior role of group head of
public affairs and public policy. The new group came into being in January after the takeover of HBOS.

Jury Team, the new political party, has hired its first PR support. Vivid London will be paid at least £10,000 for every MEP the party gets elected in the European elections on 4 June. Details of the ‘cash for MEPs’ plan were revealed by PRWeek earlier this month (PRWeek, 1 May).

ConservativeHome is hosting a conference called Inside Cameron’s Conservatives. The event takes place on 30 June with speakers including George Osborne and Michael Gove.
