Last week's quest to find the fastest PRO in this year's London Marathon unearthed the news that Baxter completed the race in a speedy 2:53.15. Flack hears that when a senior FHM journalist's house was burgled, he tried a novel approach to replacing his top-of-the-line gadgets. The staffer sent out an email to all his PR contacts detailing the items - including a MacBook, Xbox and Wii - that he wanted replacing. 'If you're able to help me out with any of the above, I'll consider myself forever in your debt,' he wrote last week. In return, he offered 'some good coverage'. Failing such items, the brazen hack suggested 'a virtual hug, high-five or stone-cold cash' would go down well. What next - PROs to provide contents insurance?...

A press release alerts us that Max Clifford and Mark Borkowski attacked modern fame-makers in a debate about celeb PR at the London College of Communication last week. Clifford wanted to show how modern celebrity 'abuses people's need for meaning in their lives in exchange for a quick buck'...
