(Saving) on expenses - Ego, Lichfield, Staffordshire

Reviewer: Jonathan Hemus, director, Insignia Communications.

- What is it good for?

There has never been a shortage of ego in PR, and the quality of this restaurant means there should never be a shortage of PROs in Ego. This Mediterranean-style restaurant is perfect for a meal with a client - great fresh food, attentive service, bright surroundings and a picturesque location near Lichfield Cathedral.

- Signature dish

The menu features a wide range of dishes that evoke memories of long weekends in Barcelona, such as the Andalucian pork fillet and the pappardelle Portofino.

- Who's the boss?

Katie Smith is manager of the Lichfield restaurant, one of nine across the north of England and now the Midlands. But fear not - this feels nothing like a chain.

- Tips please?

Ask for a table by the minster pool for great views.

- What's the damage?

A two-course lunch from the set menu is excellent value at £8.95. A three-course meal is just £2 extra.
