It is one thing for councils to adopt best practice from the private sector. It is another for Essex council to use public resources to compete with the private sector. Am I the only agency partner who thinks it is morally wrong to tax private businesses then use the tax receipts to establish public organisations that compete against them?
It is not as if private business hasn't enough problems in this recession. I would like to ask the official behind the scheme if he wants to be in the private sector, why doesn't he dip his hand in his pocket and fund it as my business partner and I funded ours?
A council should not be allowed to use taxpayers' money to compete against us.
