The week in lobbying

The Energy Retail Association has made two hires in its policy and external relations team.

Sofia Gkiousou and Mark Rusling have both joined as policy and external relations advisers. Gkiousou was previously public affairs manager at the National Federation of Retail Newsagents, while Rusling worked as campaigns and education officer at the United Nations Association. Both report to head of policy and external relations Frances Williamson.

Quintus has landed two new accounts. Chris Guyver's agency has won a brief with a new lobby group, the Commercial Weather Services Association. The association has been set up to represent commercial companies in the weather sector as the Government conducts a review of the Met Office. The agency has also landed a retainer with the British Electrotechnical and Allied Manufacturers' Association.

The European Snacks Association has taken on a senior consultant from Grayling as director for public affairs and policy. Sabine Seggelke has started at the Brussels office of the lobby group, which aims to 'advance the savoury snack industry'. Meanwhile, the Confederation of Food and Drink Industries of the EU has hired Lisa McCooey as comms director. McCooey was most recently at Brussels consultancy Cambre Associates.
