Rupert Murdoch's publishing company - chaired by James Murdoch - has appointed Nexus because it wishes to drive sales by working more closely with the retailers that sell its newspapers.

Nexus director John Meakin said: ‘News International's titles are major brands in their own right and that is how we are approaching this assignment - by applying some of the principles of successful business-to-business communication that we employ for clients operating in other sectors of the grocery trade.'

Meanwhile, The Financial Times has brought in the Launch Group to work on a consumer project. Launch Group CEO Johnny Pitt confirmed that the agency was working with the paper, but would not give any detail about the account.
