Mirroring the firm's sector model in its London and New York hubs, the practice will provide media, investor, corporate and restructuring communications advice to local and international financial services clients.
Wood, who recently re-located from London to lead the practice, said: 'The financial services industry in Asia is in a unique position in the current economic climate... We are seeing a number of international players pursuing aggressive growth targets and distribution plans in the region.'
FD Asia's client base in the sector currently spans asset management and banking services, private equity, hedge funds, sovereign wealth funds and insurance companies including Bank of New York Mellon, Standard Bank, Citadel, AIG and Temasek Holdings. In Australia, its clients include Insurance Australia Group, Australia's largest general insurer, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Pacific Equity Partners.
