It wants to double the number of people who have signed up to its Parkinson's Brain Donor Register by the end of the year. Currently only 1,000 are on the register, but the donations are crucial to helping scientists find a cure for the disease.
The charity is targeting national media and will attempt to tackle negative perceptions of brain donation among the general public. YouGov research suggests over 60 per cent of UK adults are comfortable donating a heart or kidney, but only 7 per cent are comfortable with the idea of brain donation.
The charity is using celebrity pledges to grab media attention, including the charity's president and well-known actress Jane Asher, journalist Jeremy Paxman and TV presenter John Stapleton.
The appeal marks the start of Parkinson's Awareness Week.
