The London-based institution is looking to step up its corporate communications presence during 2009 and has brought in FD to help it convey its key messages.
Nathaniel Webb, global communications manager at Panmure Gordon, said: 'FD's focus will be primarily on promoting and protecting the brand and articulating our business strengths to the UK media.'
Webb said the firm had worked with FD in the past on numerous deals and shared clients. The agency was brought in without a formal pitch process because of this existing relationship.
Billy Clegg, FD's MD of retail, and Ed Gascoigne-Pees, MD of financial communications, will lead the account.
Panmure Gordon was set to release its annual results as PRWeek went to press. Analysts expect the firm, which broke off merger talks with Ambrian Capital earlier this year, to report a loss owing to the plunge in M&A activity.
