Flack: (Saving) On Expenses - West Beach, Bournemouth

Reviewer Gemma Harris, head of creative events and experiential at McKenna Townsend PR.

- What is it good for?

Enjoyed by The Sunday Times food critic AA Gill and handily situated on the beach by Bournemouth pier, West Beach is a welcoming treat, serving the best seafood in town. Mid-mouthful glimpses of the aqua blue sea and miles of golden sand complete the experience.

- Signature dish

Waiters hurry to serve you the famous West Beach fish pie or South Coast bream fillet - from sea to plate in minutes.

- Who's the boss?

Andy Price, the vivacious entrepreneur, has transformed a number of landmark Bournemouth buildings into exciting, sought-after eateries, including West Beach, which now has two AA rosettes.

- Any tips?

Ask for a table at the window or bag an outside table on the beach-side deck. There is live jazz on the first Thursday of every month and the daily changing specials board reflects the freshest catch of the day.

- What's the damage?

West Beach does a great two-course set menu for £12.90. Three courses is £15.90.
