Capital plans for the worst

Capital MS&L has responded to the downturn in the financial markets by launching a dedicated special situations comms practice.

The specialist business division has been formed to assist clients in communicating the increasingly diverse aspects of business change triggered by the economic crisis.

Steffan Williams, MD of Capital, said: 'At Capital, much of our experience has been gained through assisting clients to communicate sensitive, complex and legally constrained corporate actions across multiple stakeholder audiences and geographies.'

Recent examples of this work include workforce reductions, debt restructurings, divestments, occupational pension scheme funding, CEO transition, profit warnings, production cuts, litigation support and rights issues.

The practice will comprise senior professionals from Capital's teams in London and Dubai and will draw on other specialists from the international Publicis Groupe.

'This move will ensure we are best placed to provide a seamless multidisciplinary approach,' said Williams.
