New venture: Rana Reeves

Rana Reeves has established John Doe to specialise in ‘marrying brands with contemporary and popular culture’. Reeves has poached Hill & Knowlton account director Jo Bartlett and has also secured an account executive.

Shine founder Rachel Bell will have a minority stake in the business, although Reeves will run it day to day.

John Doe will handle all the UK PR for Sony PlayStation, an account Reeves has worked on since 1999 when he was at JCPR. He will also continue to handle media for Christian Aid’s youth brand, which he launched last year. Vice Media Group, which publishes style magazine Vice, has just hired John Doe as its first retained agency to handle all UK PR.

David Wilson, head of PR at Sony Computer Entertainment UK, said: ‘Rana has delivered some of our most innovative and impactful PR campaigns over the past ten years and we are very pleased to support his new venture.’
