Porter Novelli loses HP work

Hewlett-Packard is shifting more UK business out of Porter Novelli after deciding to consolidate PR for its largest business segment.

The technology giant is moving the account for its Technology Solutions Group (TSG) to Burson-Marsteller.

Last year, Hewlett-Packard moved the European brief for its imaging and printing unit out of Porter Novelli in favour of Edelman.

Meanwhile, the company is reviewing its personal systems group PR – currently handled by Porter Novelli – across Europe (PRWeek, 4 February).

Porter Novelli had held the TSG account for six years.

Porter Novelli EMEA president Jean Wyllie said: ‘This decision was made at a global rather than a national level. We do not expect that it will have an impact on Porter Novelli’s UK workforce.’

Burson-Marsteller already handles the global and Europe-wide remit for TSG, which covers Hewlett-Packard’s enterprise products and services – including servers, storage and software.

The agency will now also handle all local market PR for the division.
