Porter Novelli loses HP account to Burson-Marsteller

Technology giant Hewlett-Packard is shifting more UK business out of Porter Novelli, after consolidating PR for its technology solutions group (TSG) with Burson-Marsteller.

TSG is the firm's largest business segment and the account is believed to be worth six-figures in the UK. It had been handled by Porter Novelli for six years. The agency's EMEA president Jean Wyllie said: ‘We do not expect it to impact Porter Novelli's UK workforce.'

Burson-Marsteller already handles the global and Europe-wide remit for TSG, which covers HP's enterprise products and services - including servers, storage and software. It will now also handle all local market PR for the division.

Last year, HP moved the European brief for its imaging and printing unit out of Porter-Novelli, in favour of Edelman (PRWeek, 26 June 2008). Meanwhile, the company is currently reviewing its personal systems group PR - currently handled by Porter Novelli - across Europe (PRWeek, 4 February 2009).
