- What is it good for?
Spitting distance from Victoria Park, Hackney, The Crown serves great British food using great British ingredients - all restaurant quality and at two-thirds of the price. It is a perfect venue for holding meetings where business is not the only thing on the agenda. The portions are hearty but sophisticated and the wine list is extensive and well thought out.
- Signature dishes
The menu changes seasonally. My dining companion's order of calves' liver on bubble and squeak with crispy bacon was superb.
- Who's the boss?
The Crown is owned by Geronimo Inns, and the quality food can be attributed to recently installed director of food Ray Brown. Equally, the wine list is decided upon by the 'master of wine' John Clevely.
- Any tips?
There are different specials on a daily basis so do not be afraid to try something off-menu.
- What's the damage?
During lunchtimes from Monday-Thursdays you can get two courses for £10.
