The agency is looking after online outreach for the site, where visitors can buy a £1 red nose that can be posted on their profile pictures on social networking sites including Facebook, MySpace and Bebo.

Prolific celebrity Twitterers Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross are already wearing theirs.

Bite is handling the work on a pro bono basis, and has been working alongside marketing agency Digital Outlook.

Red Nose Day, Comic Relief’s major fundraising event, takes place today. The charity will be updating Twitter throughout the day. The inhouse press team of 15 is handling traditional PR.

The fundraising event was originally launched in 1988 when it raised £15m. Since then, a total of £420m has been raised through the Red Nose Days.
