The Week in Lobbying

- Edelman has beat off Weber Shandwick and APCO to land the retained public affairs account for Sainsbury's. At the same time, Edelman has been appointed to carry out CSR projects for the supermarket chain. PRWeek revealed last month that Fishburn Hedges had lost the account after three years (PRWeek, 27 February).

- The Port of Dover is understood to be on the hunt for its first public affairs support. Agency sources said the port had made initial contact with public affairs consultancies. Nobody at the Port of Dover was available for comment as PRWeek went to press.

- Bell Pottinger Public Affairs has won a six-way shoot-out for National Express' UK-wide public affairs business. The transport group previously used Cogitamus, Golden Arrow and Politics International. PRWeek revealed earlier this year that a pitch was under way (PRWeek, 23 January).

- BAA has hired a new communications and public affairs manager for Stansted Airport. Rachel Jackson joins from Hutchison Ports, where she was PR manager.

- The Royal Geographical Society has appointed Steven Toole as manager of policy and public affairs. The former Lib Dem aide joins from the Environmental Services Association.
