BERR is increasing the number of chief press officers to five and has created the new post of head of digital media.

It has also hired Weber Shandwick consultant Fiona Cookson as deputy head of news.

Meanwhile, the Business Secretary has brought over two colleagues from his previous role as EU trade commissioner.

Peter Power has joined as Mandelson’s press secretary, while Stephen Adams has become his chief speechwriter.

Power was previously European Commission trade spokesman while Adams was until recently communications co-ordinator at the European Commission trade department.
