Fiona Cunningham will return to Conservative Central Office after less than a year in her current role.

Before joining the British Chambers of Commerce in June 2008 she worked as a press officer for shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley.

The party’s head of media Henry Macrory confirmed that Cunningham was returning to the fold. He said: ‘She couldn’t keep away.’

Cunningham will start the new role next month. She replaces Ramesh Chabra who recently became a press adviser to George Osborne in a reshuffle of Tory backroom staff.

The vacancy in the Tory press office was created by the departure of deputy news manager Natalie Kirby who recently joined McDonald’s as head of media.
