Cherry Read has joined the charity to oversee a £2m programme of consumer and travel campaign activity to reduce injuries and deaths in the UK from electrical accidents. She will also take on responsibility for corporate communications.
She was previously a director for Munro & Forster, where she headed up campaigns for public and voluntary organisations including the Department for Health.
She will prioritise the development of new strands of campaign activity targeting teenagers and parents, alongside building up the charity’s work on product safety and home-improvement grants.
The Electrical Safety Council is a charitable organisation committed to improving electrical standards and increasing safety for consumers.
