Philips hands Omnicom agencies bumper brief

Philips has taken its vast global PR account away from MS&L and Text 100 and turned to a consortium of Omnicom agencies.

Ketchum, Fleishman-Hillard, CPR Worldwide, and Kreab Gavin Anderson will begin work for the electronics giant in July. The network - dubbed ‘one voice' - will provide comms support for its consumer products, lighting, healthcare and corporate divisions across the world.

Industry sources suggested that the entire account was worth £5-7m globally, with MS&L previously holding around 85 per cent of the business. MS&L officially won the Philips account five years ago.

The account came down to a straight shoot-out between MS&L and the Omnicom consortium, after Text 100 and APCO were eliminated from consideration in the penultimate round.
