Coke restructures Euro comms

Coca-Cola Europe is to consolidate its internal and external comms operations into a single unit.

Current internal comms head Jane Lawrie assumed control of the joint team, becoming Coca-Cola Europe's communications director on 1 April.

Existing external comms director Steve Leroy's role will become redundant, but it is understood discussions are underway to find a suitable role for him within the firm.

A spokesman for Coca-Cola Europe would not rule out further redundancies in the combined comms teams due to duplication of roles, but insisted it was still too early in the process to speculate on possible numbers involved.

Lawrie said in a statement to PR Week: ‘This move to an integrated communications director will build on our ability to deliver rapid and consistent communications across Europe.  With many high profile brands in multiple markets, we continue to have a great opportunity to build trust with key audiences.'

Lawrie has more than 20 years experience in communications and has recently worked in senior communications roles for Boots the Chemist and Diageo.

This change within Coca-Cola Europe does not affect the GB function.
