Expedia seeks agency for hotel site

Expedia.com is on the hunt for consumer support for its newly-acquired global hotel booking site.

The travel company is looking for a consumer agency for Venere.com, which it bought at the end of last year.

Venere.com allows users to book over 30,000 accomodations as well as accessing 550,000 reader reviews.

Expedia's communications director EMEA Alison Couper is leading the search, and has yet to draw up a shortlist. She is expecting to hold pitches in the next four weeks. She said: 'Venere.com is at an important stage. In addition to the on-going increase in contracted hotels and the opening of new markets, we are developing new community features to provide an increasingly interesting context for the consume'.

Expedia currently retains 77PR for hotels.com and Golin Harris for Expedia.com.

Venere.com range includes luxury hotels, country houses and B&Bs. The site launched in 1995, and has seen a 70 per cent growth in the last five years.
