Fledgling PR shop Rachel O’Reilly Communications, founded by travel PR stalwart Rachel O’Reilly last summer, has been hired to work across the company, with a particular emphasis on Teletext’s burgeoning online operation.
After 2012, Teletext will be available only on ITV’s digital channels, the internet and mobile phones. But recent reports suggested Teletext was set to disappear from TV screens before 2012 and that its popularity had plummeted due to the rise of the internet.
Teletext marketing director Ash Makker denied the reports and said: ‘Rachel will work alongside our in-house marketing team to provide strategic and hands-on PR support as we move towards a digital-only future.’
O’Reilly said she would be ‘helping to move the business towards a digital future’. She added: ‘Online marketing and PR is a major part of the brief.’
O’Reilly set up her agency last year after leaving Siren PR (PRWeek, 27 August 2008).
