Red, Cohn & Wolfe, Lexis and incumbent Hill & Knowlton pitched for the delivery company's account last week.

Hill & Knowlton has held the account for the last year and a half.

DHL is owned by the German company Deutsche Post. In the last couple of months it has been linked with bids for a stake in the Post Office, alongside parcel courier TNT, owned by Dutch group TPG.

The mail carrier removed its domestic express delivery service from the US last November, cutting 9,500 jobs.

Last week, it kicked off a month-long consultation over plans to close a distribution depot in Dumfries in Scotland. The depot currently has 63 staff, but it is unclear how many will be affected.
