Flack: (SAVING) on expenses - Le Mistral, Derbyshire

Reviewer: Elizabeth West, account manager, Berkeley PR

What is it good for?

Le Mistral is a cosy restaurant with great food, situated in the centre of historic Wirksworth close to the Peak District. The menu offers a fine choice of French dishes and traditional home-cooked food made with local Derbyshire produce and items sourced directly from the Rungis market in Paris.

- Signature dish

Le Mistral is well known for its organic, vegetarian and vegan dishes.

- Who's the boss?

Jim Anderson is the boss of the three Le Mistral restaurants in Derby and Nottingham, but the Wirksworth branch is managed by Sam North and Saskia Oosterwoud.

- Tips please?

Le Mistral regularly holds events including wine tasting evenings, gourmet nights and live poetry performances.

- What's the damage?

For two courses expect to pay around £18. There are lighter alternatives, such as fresh baguettes, soup du jour and omelettes from £5-£10. Excellent for a quick bite without breaking the budget.
