Although no names were made available, it is understood that a list of inaugural members will be made available shortly.

PRCA director general Francis Ingham said ‘the decision was driven by the requests of both in-house teams and member agencies, both wanting to see closer links between the two sectors'.

Associate members will be able to attend networking events with agencies plus receive discounted rates on training, qualifications, conferences and jobs adverts.

The PRCA denied that allowing in-house professionals to join would put it in competition with the CIPR and said it is welcoming in-house comms teams, rather than individuals.
