Mason: moves to Mandate

Mason has been appointed as MD of the agency’s public affairs operation, leading a 25-strong team. She will take over from Gavin Devine who has been promoted to a senior director role.
Mason was until recently MD of FD Public Affairs. She is understood to have parted company with FD late last year, after PRWeek revealed that the agency planned to make around 12 people redundant (PRWeek, 28 November 2008).
Before joining FD, Mason held senior roles at Bell Pottinger Public Affairs and Brunswick. She also worked in-house at the CBI.
Mason is currently on gardening leave and will not start the new role until June. Mandate chief executive Sacha Deshmukh said: ’Fiona is one of the most respected figures in the public affairs industry and so she is the perfect choice to lead Mandate’s public affairs team.  She brings a welter of experience, but most importantly a passion for lobbying as a core part of integrated business communications.’
Mandate launched last year after the merger of AS Biss & Co and Republic PR. Its public affairs clients include Cadbury, EDF Energy, London 2012, Camelot, Nationwide and Zurich Financial Services.
