Dent will take up the role next month, leaving his position as director of corporate comms at the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
In the new role, Dent will report to 2018 chief executive Andy Anson. Dent previously worked with Anson at the ATP. Dent’s brief is to help bring the World Cup back to England for the first time since 1966.
‘Kris has a level of national and international comms experience that will be invaluable,’ said Anson.
Dent has been at the tennis association for two years, acting as spokesman and dealing with global media enquiries. Before joining the ATP, he worked as European director of comms at the Women’s Tennis Association and was also formerly head of communications at the Lawn Tennis Association.
The ten contenders to host the 2018 World Cup are: England, Spain/Portugal, Russia, Holland/Belgium, United States, Mexico, Australia, Japan, Qatar and Indonesia.
