Shelter has brought in Kay Boycott, previously director of global strategy firm Oxford Strategic Marketing.

The £75,500 role at Shelter involves developing solutions to the housing crisis and presenting them to politicians, policy-makers and the wider public.

Boycott's public sector experience includes work for the Department of Health, the Child Maintenance Enforcement Commission and the Health and Safety Executive.

She has also been a Non-Executive Director of Hammersmith & Fulham Primary Care Trust for the past five years.

Boycott said: ‘Many charities are being affected by the credit crunch and this needs to be addressed. However I believe I can bring a high level of commercial discipline and effectiveness to Shelter while leading the communications, policy and campaigns department to ensure delivery of its strategic aims.'
