Luke Blair's piece about 'hard to reach groups' (News, 16 January) brought back a comment made in the focus groups we ran with a water company.

Asked how leaders should communicate with remote staff working up poles and down holes, a participant responded: 'It's the leaders who are remote, not the workers. Communication needs to start with their needs.' It's at the front line that the money gets made.
