MySpace to rethink help

Social networking giant MySpace is planning to review its PR support later this year.

The site, owned by Rupert Murdoch's media company News Corporation, currently retains Lexis Public Relations.

Lexis CEO Margot Raggett said MySpace had spoken about repitching, but that no date had been fixed and no briefs issued. Alice Regester, director of comms for MySpace Europe, did not rule out a repitch. 'We have been very happy working with Lexis but it doesn't hurt to talk to other agencies,' she said.

At the November 2008 Web 2.0 forum MySpace claimed 118 million global users (7.8 million in the UK). MySpace announced last week it was building a new free webmail service.
