5 January - 2009 could be a year of MetaSocNets. Meta-social networks gives you access to all of your social networks in one place. And it could be a very good thing indeed. Although not if Facebook has anything to do with it, seeing as it has started the year with a law suit against Power.com. Users of Power.com can still access, MySpace, YouTube, and other social networks, but no longer Facebook.

4 January - The United States Air Force has published a great planogram on assessing social media risks. It gives an excellent roadmap on how to react to blog mentions that could be easily adapted to most corporates and follows many of the same principles that we use to advise our clients.

4 January - On Twitter a person's personality really shines through. I don't just mean what they do for a living, whether they're a coding nerd or a social media guru, but whether they're funny, grumpy, optimistic or a doomsayer. It is 12 months since I've been following folk on Twitter and I could sum up so many of them in one or two sentences - not about what they do, but about what they're like and I guess that's the key as to why Twitter continues to gain users and momentum.
