Crow takes up the newly-created post of director of strategy and communications next week.

He is currently STV's political correspondent and presenter of Politics Now.

He will report directly into the UK Conservative Party director of comms Andy Coulson and Scottish Conservative chairman Andrew Fulton.

Coulson said of the appointment: ‘There has always been a close working relationship between the UK Conservative Party and the Scottish Conservative Party and Michael's appointment will clearly enhance that position.'

As part of his role Crow will act as a liaison between the Party's Central Offices in London and Edinburgh.
