Browne, who oversaw comms for the council during the media debaclacknowledged that the death of Baby P and the Government report which followed hd ‘done serious damage to the reputation of child protection in the borough and nationally’.
He added: ‘This is something we will need to work on with council, health and police comms colleagues in tandem with the improvements in the ways we work singly and jointly.'
The comms chief had previously declined to comment on the fall-out form the Baby P case, when approached by PRWeek.
Browne also said that he was not involved in the ‘personal decisions’ of council leader George Meehan and cabinet member Liz Santry to resign, but added ‘communications can offer support and advice in how these decisions are presented’.
