Public Sector: Local credit crunch campaigns

Local councils are hitting their residents and local businesses with recession-busting campaigns.

Rochdale is targeting members of the public with a 'beat the crunch' campaign. It features tips on surviving the credit crunch and being thrifty. It is also planning to hold an advice seminar for small businesses to help them find out about the support available during recession.

The council has also announced that proposals are going to cabinet that would mean speeding up the time it takes to process and pay invoices from small or medium-sized businesses.

Meanwhile, public sector bodies in Essex have come together to announce a series of proposals designed to support Essex families and businesses.

Local bodies in Essex will invest nearly a billion pounds supporting the county's economy in 2008-09. This funding will lead into campaigns to improve the promotion of support available.
